Auchentoshan American Oak
Great for bourbon lovers, this release has been matured exclusively in American oak ex-bourbon, with vanilla and coconut at the forefront.
Auchentoshan is the only distillery in Scotland to triple distill 100% of its spirit, a method commonly used in Irish distilleries. This creates a softer, lighter whisky perfectly suited to Auchentoshan's unpeated, Lowland style.
Auchentoshan means ‘corner of the field’ in Gaelic and is on the outskirts of Glasgow in Clydebank. Established in 1823, it changed hands a number of times until Suntory bought the distillery in 1994. Known for using sherry and wine casks to impart a sweeter taste, the triple distillation removes fusel oils and impurities from the spirit. The unpeated malt reflects the traditional Lowland character; the area was rich in coal mining and peat does not cover the area as it does in the western highlands or islands.
Soft, light in feel. Predominantly vanilla and coconut, with some toasted oak and underlying spice.
